4 GOP congressional candidates agree to debates

Northern Colorado's four Republican congressional candidates have agreed to participate in several debates leading up to the 2010 caucuses and primaries.
The first debate will be Feb. 4 at Windsor High School, sponsored by the Coloradoan, 9News, the Windsor Beacon and Loveland Connection. Other dates have not yet been set, but the four GOP candidates have agreed in principle to participate in several debates.
The four candidates are state Rep. Cory Gardner, R-Yuma; University of Colorado Regent Tom Lucero of Berthoud; former Fort Collins City Council member Diggs Brown; and Dean Madere of Loveland, a territory manager for a heating and air conditioning company and an activist in the Tea Party movement.The Republican nominee will take on Democratic incumbent Betsy Markey in the November general election.
The party caucuses, the first step in selecting candidates, will be March 16. The primary is Aug. 10.
